 祝贺信（Letter of Congratulation）
 在西方，当知道某一位朋友要订婚、结婚或生了孩子的时候， 当知道某一位朋友得到荣誉或奖赏时，往往会立刻写信祝贺。对于这种书信的要求是：真诚自然，亲切动人。
 祝贺信是特别容易写的，写起来也特别使人愉快，因为人们都乐于把朋友的喜事看作是自己的喜事，这种信是鼓舞人心的信，可以尽情的发挥。
1． 祝贺订婚（Congratulations on an Engagement）
  在习惯上，欧美人写信祝贺友人订婚或结婚时，大多是写给男方，但在信中应向女方表示同样美好的祝愿。例如：

 I’ve heard the news of your engagement and hasten to congratulate you. That’s great news about you and Lenore! She’s a wonderful girl in every way, and I congratulate you on your good fortune.

2． 祝贺结婚（Congratulations on Marriage）
 当你接到结婚请柬以后，应尽快写信向新郎新娘表示祝贺，这种信的抬头和信封常常是写给新郎和新娘两个人的，但是也可以单独写给新郎或新娘。例如：

4． 祝贺生日 (Congratulations on a Birthday）
 
 祝贺生日时，人们常常使用现成的祝贺卡片。但是亲笔写一封短信，哪怕是寥寥数语，也会给人以郑重感。因此，祝贺亲友的生日，最好亲笔写一封祝贺信，而不是用卡片。

 You may not like to be reminded that you are a year older today — but that’s not going to keep me from saying “ Happy Birthday!”
